It probably says a lot about the kind of person that I am – and my level of maturity – that I first saw this quote on ‘Kung Fu Panda.’ Though Mr. Oogway certainly tells it well, the quote actually originates from the mouth of former First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.
Here it is:
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the ‘present'”
As you go about your day, ask yourself if you’re treating today as if it were indeed a gift. And that you’re not instead wasting it.
Or misusing it.
Or even failing to notice and appreciate that it is a gift in the first place.
