A Quote to Help you Step Forward

I’m thinking a lot about facing fears and discomfort at the moment, and today I just wanted to share a quote that speaks to this.

Abraham Maslow said:

“You will either step forward into growth, or step backwards into safety.”

It’s true that attempting to grow often feels a lot harder, scarier and MUCH less comfortable that staying safe.

But if you’re always ‘safe’, you effectively end up feeling stuck. And when you step backwards from an opportunity out of a need to protect yourself, you step backwards into a cage of limitations and fears.

Stepping forward, out of the cage, might not feel good whilst you’re actually moving. But as soon as you’ve taken that step, and paused to look around, you’ll soon notice how much better the view is out here; how much more alive you feel.
